The season of sunbathing is in full swing and everyone is busy picking the perfect swimsuit and holiday destination. There is lots to prepare and its imperative not to forget the essentials. With airport security increasing it may be easy to overlook packing a perfume – nobody wants to hassle with placing liquids in a separate bag and so on. Luckily, modern perfumes come in many shapes and sizes – allowing us to easily squeeze <100 ml bottles into the luggage.
This summer my go-to perfume is definitely the tried and true D&G L’Impératrice. It combines the exquisite notes of fresh fruits with summery florals in a scent that will keep you feeling fresh throughout the day. The strongest aromas I felt are probably watermelon and strawberry which are just perfect for the summer. The original 2009 campaign features the beautiful Naomi Campbell who without a doubt makes the perfume seem unattainable with her “see-through you” gaze, but most likely this is exactly what made people buy it in the first place.
I have been using this perfume on and off for about 5 years and still can’t get over it. It is so fresh and light that you will never get a comment like: “Uff, what perfume is that? Its quite, uhm…strong”. I know because I am the last person to choose an overly sweet, almost sickly – mawkish scent which even after two spritzes gives the impression that you bathed in it. Instead L’Impératrice is light with subtle notes which will not overwhelm even the most sensitive of people. In a slick, classy packaging this perfume will look alluring on your vanity and make you look forward to your nearest vacation.
